FAQ

  • What is your minimum age for boarding a dog?
Our primary concern is the welfare of our guests. For this reason, our minimum boarding age for dogs is 4 months. It is generally recommended that puppies get their first round of "adult" shots at 12 weeks, and the second round at 16 weeks, including rabies. Additionally, in any kennel environment, a young pup could possibly be exposed to air-borne viruses with an immune system not quite developed to fight them off. In certain circumstances, we will board a very young puppy but will use our grooming room to segregate them from the general population for their safety.
  • How long can my pet board at CRK? Do you discount for long-term boarding?
Boarding can be indefinite, as long as we are pre-paid for every 30 days. There is a 10% discount for every 30-day stay, but these visits must be prepaid and we must have a credit card on file so that we can charge the boarding expense every 30 days. Helpful hint: Your pet can not count the number of days in our care. They only know that you have left and you will be back. This is similar to the routine you have in place when you leave for work or to run an errand.
  • I'm boarding my pet for the first time? What should I expect?
Your pet will adjust quickly to our boarding facility and routines. Feeding, cleansing, exercise, and kennel monitoring are all scheduled events that bring order and structure to the boarding environment. Expect to pick up a tired but happy pet! You can do a lot to help prepare your pet for this environment in the days before your pet is to be boarded. First, establish (or reinforce) a routine schedule of meal times and limit feedings to twice per day. We feed in the morning, and again in the early evening. If you request an alternative schedule, we will be happy to oblige. Please make your preference clear to us at check-in.
  • Can my pet catch a disease while being kenneled with other pets?
Yes, your pet can be exposed to disease when kenneled with other animals. The risk is, however, quite low, and virtually eliminated when kennels require advance vaccination to ensure a healthy population of boarded guests. Additionally, high sanitation standards and quality living conditions are vitally important to ensuring an absence of disease. Our modern sanitation procedures, air flow system, required vaccinations, kennel construction, and isolation program all help to create a healthy, safe and secure environment for your pets when they are in our care. We have taken great pains to ensure that our kennel provides a first-class, highly sanitary environment.
  • Can all my pets be boarded together?
Yes, we can accommodate your wishes and board your pets together in the same suite, as space allows (typically we allow up to 2 dogs under 80 lbs. each to board together in the same kennel- this allows adequate space for each pet and promotes both comfort and safety). Up to two cats can be boarded together in one cat condo.
  • Do you give discounts for multiple pets?
No, CRK does not offer multiple pet discounts. While some families prefer to board pets together in the same suite, each pet receives the same individual care. In certain circumstances, having more than one pet per kennel creates additional work as it relates to feeding issues, cleanliness, or other care-related items.
  • Do you require a deposit in advance of a boarding visit?
Only for stays of 30 days or longer.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
We realize that plans do change, and wish to accommodate all of our customer's needs. A cancellation fee will be accessed if a cancellation notice is given less than 48 hours prior to the scheduled arrival date or departure date. The full boarding rate will be assessed for the first two days of your reservation if the notice is less than 48 hours prior to the scheduled arrival date. Two days' advanced notice is also required to change your departure date and time. This is necessary to accommodate as many clients as possible and staff appropriately. During peak season and holidays, we need our entire facility to serve area clients. We only expect you to pay for what you have requested unless you give us 48 hours to offer it to future callers.
  • While my dog is boarding with you, will he be taken out for walks?
CRK offers additional one-on-one play date sessions for your pet. The charge per 15 minutes is $5.00 per session. Included in CRK's standard boarding services, all pets will have a minimum of three outings to our play yard daily. A much shorter "last call" bathroom opportunity will be offered before bedtime. For most pets, this is more than sufficient for exercise and elimination needs.
  • My pets like to have toys with them. Can they have their favorite toys while boarding at CRK?
Your pets can have up to two of their favorite toys with them to make them feel as comfortable as possible during their stay, as long as the toy(s) do not present a potential danger to them or become a territorial focus that can lead to aggressive behavior. If you don't have toys that your pet can enjoy while with us, we have a retail area with chews and toys to select from. We also have a toy basket and can provide our toys to your pet during the stay. Please be kind and let us know in advance if your pet is an aggressive chewer and will destroy bedding or toys. It is not necessary to bring any of your pet's bedding for their boarding visit. Pets can be highly possessive of their personal bedding and may become agitated when the bedding is removed for sanitizing, which, for the health of all our pet guests, we must do each day. An individual Kuranda bed is provided for our pet guests at no additional charge. Your pet will love the Kuranda experience.
  • My dog is on a special diet. Can I bring in my own food?
It is recommended that you bring your pets' food while staying with us. This will minimize digestive issues and will lessen the stress of their stay. If food is not provided, we have purchased a bland Veterinary formula for substitution. The fee for this is a flat daily charge of $1..50. This food will not promote loose stools due to the rapid change in dog food varieties. Our feline customers are provided Taste Of The Wild grain-free food and daily treats!
  • My pet is diabetic and requires shots?
Pets with significant medical needs are better off under a veterinarian's care than in our kennel facility. We prefer to not accept diabetic pets for boarding but will refer you to a highly qualified veterinarian who can board and administer treatments to your pet. Administering oral medication is acceptable. If your pet has health care issues, please provide detailed information prior to booking a reservation.
  • Is your kennel air-conditioned?
Yes, our Kennels have centralized air to provide summer comfort and are heated in the winter. Our facility has year-round outdoor access and an outdoor play yard, weather permitting.
